Nails Symptoms

Cancer patients on chemotherapy are very likely to experience changes in the toenails and fingernails. Some of these changes may be tolerable and dismissed as a mere nuisance or primarily a cosmetic concern, others are not to be taken lightly,  and require treatment.

Other cancer treatments can cause the same changes to the nails too, bringing along hair loss and skin changes.

Cancer patients should learn as much as they can about their illness and the changes they might expect. This may help to reduce the symptoms, as cancer patients are less likely to neglect or overlook a symptom if they are given a heads-up on what might happen. Once noticed, all symptoms should be discussed with the health care team.
